  • 6:30-8:00pm – Exploring Spacious Awareness
    6:30 PM-8:00 PM

    Exploring Spacious Awareness

Depending on your philosophical orientation, Spacious Awareness might also be called spirit, True Self, consciousness, soul, awake awareness, Christ Consciousness, Buddha Nature, etc. (The direct recognition in and as ourselves is more significant than the name we give it.) This series will explore the territory which lies beyond our conceptualizing mind. The focus will be experiential and non-denominational; it will not be philosophical or dogmatic. It will include extemporaneous talks, guided meditation and inquiry. Spacious Awareness will be revealed as being already present, complete and whole – only patiently awaiting our recognition of it.

  • 9:30am-Noon Introduction to Sacred Singing

    Introduction to Sacred Singing

Everyone can sing, and it is incredibly valuable – whether you think you can sing or not. Come find out why singing will help you experience a much fuller and richer life.

This workshop is for anyone who wishes to explore how singing, and especially how singing and chanting the songs from many traditions – from ancient to modern – can enrich one’s experience of life.

The workshop explores the ways that singing and chant have been used through the ages to create a full and rich life – to open the heart and expand us into the deeper places that singing has been used to carry human beings for thousands of years.

This workshop has few lectures. It is just about singing, chanting, and toning with others. Participants do not need any prior training or even experience singing with a group. In fact, if you have felt uncomfortable in the past trying to sing around other people, this is your chance to overcome that concern, to let go and enjoy using your voice, to begin to find your voice and connect with yourself and others through song and chant.

    6:30 PM-8:30 PM
    2018.07.26

Learn about, explore, and practice this ancient method with this introductory session

Learn about, explore, and practice this ancient method of leaving aside external concerns, discontinuing the incessant internal dialogue, and signaling our alert receptivity to the Divine Presence already dwelling within.

From the Great Silence of the Hebrew scripture to the Prayer in Secret of the Sermon on the Mount to the union with the Divine Indwelling of the 4th-century Desert Fathers and Mothers, some form of the contemplative practice we now call Centering Prayer has been with us. Join us as we learn to use this ancient practice to deeper and enrich our spiritual lives.
